GALGA ACADEMY · TRAINING AND RESEARCH
We train the quality technicians industry is going to need.
We bring into the classroom what happens every day on the shop floor: 3D models with PMI, geometric tolerances, PPAP and CMMs. For vocational schools, universities, technology institutes and industry associations.
Who it is for
Four ways to work together.
Vocational training
Manufacturing and moulding classrooms
Mechanical manufacturing, polymer moulding and related courses. Students practise on the real workflow: from 3D model to dimensional report.
University
Engineering and metrology
Research licence for bachelor’s and master’s projects and PhD theses, with proposed topics, test parts and technical supervision from practising engineers.
Technology institutes
Applied R&D
Joint projects on model-based definition, metrology and dimensional quality.
Associations and clusters
Events and workshops
Hands-on workshops for members and free material to share: PPAP guide, glossary and documented cases.
What we offer
Tool, material and know-how. At no cost to the institution.
Classroom
Educational licence
Free per academic year, no commercial use. Reports carry an “educational use” mark.
Research
Research licence
Free for the duration of the bachelor’s or master’s project or the thesis, in exchange for sharing the results and citing GALGA.
45 minutes
Talk or workshop
“From 3D model to dimensional report”, on site or remotely, with exercises on public parts.
How it works
From the first call to published results.
- 1
We talk
A 20-minute conversation to understand your subject or your line of research.
- 2
We agree
A short agreement, one or two pages: licences, use of results and agreed publication.
- 3
You test
With public parts and a common protocol. The lecturer or the student measures, not us.
- 4
We share
A results report and, if you agree, a joint publication.
Industry challenges, in the classroom
Real problems, turned into exercises and projects.
When a company brings us a challenge and the case allows it, we redesign it with equivalent parts and no customer data so the class works on a real problem. Associations can propose challenges from their members.
Open test protocol
The same criteria at every institution. The results are yours.
Public NIST parts and parts designed for teaching, never customer parts. We measure manual time versus GALGA, correct characteristics under the published criterion (type, nominal, tolerance and datums) and ease of use. The institution obtains the results: that is why they are independent.
Proposed bachelor’s and master’s project topics
To start researching from day one.
- Validation of automatic PMI extraction against the manual method on injection-moulded parts.
- Comparison of GD&T reading across formats: STEP AP242, JT and 3D PDF.
- From 3D model to CMM program with QIF: workflow and benefits.
- Automatic design of inspection fixtures from the part model.
Have another topic in mind? We will look into it with you.
Our commitment to institutions
Clear rules from day one.
Ownership
To each their own
The student’s work belongs to the student. If we publish it, we cite it.
Publication
Always agreed
Nothing is published without the institution’s approval.
Data
Zero customer data
Only public parts or parts designed for teaching are used in the classroom.
People
Students protected
Never names or photos without permission, and with special care for minors.
Contact
Let’s talk about your classroom or your research.
Tell us what you teach or research, and we will propose the collaboration that fits best. An engineer replies within 24 hours. We are opening our first collaborations.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost for an educational institution?
Nothing. The educational licence is free per academic year and the research licence for the duration of the work. We only ask that it is not used for commercial purposes and that GALGA is cited if results are published.
Are customer parts used in the classroom?
Never. The classroom only works with public parts, such as the NIST ones, or parts designed by GALGA for teaching.
