GAUGES AND TOOLING
The gauge, checked against the PMI before you pay for it.
A gauge or a poka-yoke is often approved by looking at the 3D. GALGA compares it with the released model and its PMI, and gives every tool a technical record you can follow.
What it checks
- The part in the gauge: that it is the released revision and how it is placed.
- Datums: every A target on a support, and the B and C simulators against their virtual condition (MMB) from the PMI.
- Contacts: interference with supports and clamps, and clamps pressing beyond the support underneath.
- Clamps pushing sideways: toggle clamps or pushers that move the part off its datums because there is no stop opposite.
- Poka-yoke: whether the opposite-hand part fits, and whether the same part fits turned 180°.
A technical record for every tool
Mould, gauge, poka-yoke, clamping fixture or die: each one gets an ID with a check character, the fingerprint of its STEP (the 3D never leaves your computer), the summary of its review and its technical status. If the part revision changes, the tool becomes «review pending». Output in JSON and Excel, ready for your traceability system, following the logic of IATF 16949 (8.5.1.6): status, ownership and engineering change level.
What it does not do
- It does not replace measuring the gauge: the gauge-maker tolerances are not in the 3D.
- It does not work out the clamping sequence or the kinematics of the toggle clamps.
- The record does not locate the tool: location, cycles and calibration come from your plant system.
Frequently asked questions
What do I need?
The gauge STEP and, for every part, its STEP and its PMI (GALGA extracts it from the model itself).
Does it work for gauges from any maker?
Yes. It reads the tool STEP from any CAD, including assemblies and Rhino layers.
